Meet Julie Patti

I began my architectural career in Aberdeen, Scotland after graduating from The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture with a PgDip Advanced Architecture and BSc (Hons) Architecture.

During my early career, I received international awards both at university and in practice.

After moving to Melbourne, I continued building my experience over the past 25 years, creating a bespoke residential development and design company with my husband working in Melbourne’s most affluent suburbs.

My approach combines international design thinking with practical, local experience and always focused on creating spaces that are calm, functional and timeless.

Why I Do This Work

I believe good design isn’t about trends.
It’s about how a home feels and functions every single day.

Families need layouts that support real life, busy mornings, growing children, entertaining friends and quiet evenings.

I’m also passionate about making good design more accessible, helping people create thoughtful, well-functioning homes, even when working within a defined budget. At 1roomdesign, I have created a range of design packages to suit different budgets and requirements.

When the architecture is resolved properly, everything else becomes easier.
